The subjective perception of age affects how fast we age, this was stated by experts from the United States. To this conclusion they came, summing up the results of the study with the participation of 10 thousand people.
Scientists, representing the American psychological Association, found a pattern: people who considered themselves aged people have more chances to get to the hospital within ten years. According to experts, the subjective perception of the aging correlates with impaired physical and mental properties.
The researchers studied hospitalized cases 10 thousand patients aged from 24 to 102 years, were coming into hospitals in the period from 1995 to 2013. They found that people who felt older or old, had a 25% higher probability of “ring out” in the hospital.
According to the researchers, feel that older patients do exhibit a tendency to “age-related” disorders in the body.
“Subjective aging due to impairments of physical and mental activities, for example, depression and sedentary lifestyle,” commented this fact, the authors of the project.
