A team of scientists doing research to get closer to solving the about the life saber-toothed cats.
The experts were able to determine that the species became extinct not so long ago, as expected, and it happened, at least 100 thousand years later.
The researchers were able to come to this conclusion through careful study of DNA samples from the ancient bones of saber-toothed cats, found the remains which were located in the North sea on the coast of the Netherlands. It turned out that detected in 2008 samples preserved their structure, which gave the experts the opportunity to understand the scientific dilemma.
According to the scientists, the relationship between the modern cats and saber-toothed tigers have already proven scientifically, and now we can assume that their closest relatives lived on the planet about 20 million years ago. There is also reason to think that the first people could meet these animals during the migration of the latter.
