Scientists explained this phenomenon.
On the Internet it was released pictures of Antarctica that have made Landsat 8.
The footage shows as Antarctica gradually turns green.
This phenomenon is explained by the fact that the surface water contains phytoplankton, said Australian glaciologist Jan Lieser. These algae often bloom in Antarctic waters during spring and summer, because in this period, the ice becomes thinner and the sunlight can penetrate in larger quantities.
Although at the moment in these latitudes is observed in autumn, but under suitable conditions, phytoplankton also are able to develop.
