Today only 8% of Ukrainian children who are in orphanages are orphans, while 92% have parents.

According to him, the number of children in residential institutions of Ukraine is slowly growing: in 2000 there were more than 99 thousand children, now it is 106 thousand
“The most interesting thing. Then orphans of them was 40%, and 60% were parents. Now – 8% of orphans, 92% have parents. What’s going on? When the orphans ran out, the boarding schools began to delay their children, have parents,” said Minister of social policy.
According to him, from September 1, the Ministry of education intends to stop taking their children to such institutions unnecessarily, thereby provoking social orphanhood. We are talking about a ban on the device in institutional care of children up to three years at the request of parents, except when necessary, palliative care.
“These things, including the orphanage, we encourage financial. You need to completely change the financing mechanism of this system,” said Reva.
