Kyiv city Council has doubled the penalty for the destruction of green space. For the adoption of amendments to the procedures for the removal of green plantings in the territory of the city of Kiev 96 MPs voted for the minimum required 61.

It is assumed that, in addition to restorative value of green space, will also have to pay a penalty of 300% of their replacement cost.
“Estimate, according to which calculates the replacement value of green space, yet do not meet the real costs of restoring green space, so need to bring them into line with modern realities, particularly interest rate increase from 150% to 300% unauthorised destruction of trees,” said co-author of the draft decision, city Council Deputy Konstantin Yalova.
Means the replacement value of the violators will pay into a special Fund of the city budget without VAT, regardless of the penalty and the harm caused to the green spaces as a result of their unauthorized destruction.
