Scientists have created a prosthetic controlled by the brain
Under development is a prosthetic foot which is able to recognize the nerve signals directed to the human brain, reported U.S. researchers from the Chicago Center for bionic medicine.
The scientists explained that traditional dentures used mechanical sensors, and the new prosthesis, they were replaced by sensors of neural signals. The system is based on the recording of the electrical activity of muscles by using electrodes attached to the thigh muscles.
In the laboratory have successfully tested dvuhsistemnaya mechanical foot – controlled knee joint and the articulation of the leg and foot.
Specialists are very pleased with the results, but they still have a lot of work to improve prosthetic legs before it will be widely used.
