The nebula is about 1500 light years from Earth.
Astronomers received the nebula М78, which consists of three parts.
The nebula is about 1500 light years from Earth in the constellation of Orion, its length is about five light-years. The tint of the nebula is due to the fact that it mainly consists of dust reflecting the blue light of hot young stars.
To the left of M78 on the image is another reflection nebula is NGC 2071. On the right is much more compact, the McNeil nebula is a variable nebula associated with a young Solar system. On the dark dust lanes of the nebula stand out bright jets coming from the star is the object herbage Aro.
Previously, astronomers have noticed that a small galaxy located in the Sculptor group, is gradually destroyed by the gravitational influence of a giant galaxy, situated right next door to hers. The newly discovered galaxy belongs to a class of dwarf spheroidal galaxies, but, unlike other such galaxies, it has an elongated shape, is directed towards NGC 253. This form of the galaxy may indicate that it affects the gravitational influence of a larger galaxy, which acts more strongly on the near side.
