Today, June 16 marks 92 years since the founding of the famous children’s camp in the Crimea “Artek”.
Now a children’s center in Gurzuf is under the control of the occupation authorities. Since the annexation of the Peninsula around the children’s camp did not subside scandals.
So, the local “authorities” began the construction of a new building of children’s camp “Artek”, destroying the ancient cemetery of the Crimean “Gurzuf-Aziz”.
Muslim burial is located near the beach “Gurovsky stones”, that is included in the coastal zone “Artek”. After the deportation of Crimean Tatars to Central Asia, the cemetery was in a neglected condition.
From the beginning of 2017, began to conduct active work on the destruction of the cemetery.
“Gurzuf, at the beginning of the 19th century, was completely mono-ethnic Crimean Tatar village. And that, in General, is a slap in the face to the whole Crimean Tatar people. It’s very scary when cemeteries are demolished and not take into account the interests of the indigenous people, which was formed in the Crimea and lived in this territory”, — said the historian Gulnara Bekirova.
Beach “Gurovsky stones” was also in the midst of a scandal. The new management of the “Artek” closed access to the beach area, which is now guarded by the police.
“We are 50 meters from beach houses “Gurovsky stones”. We 12-year-old daughter went to bathe, and when he got to the shore, then came the guards, the police. I was taken to the station, and in the Department I was told that swimming is strictly forbidden”, – said the old Iryna Ivaschenko-Aleksova.
In this case the nearest beach, where it is not forbidden entrance, need to walk two kilometers.
“Not everyone can get to places where we were allowed to swim. We have an elderly woman with a disabled daughter, as they come in hurzuf?”, – the local resident was indignant.
Destroyed trees around the “Artek”
Also, the invaders destroyed whole rows of valuable trees in the camp. In place of trees now only the empty hills and a huge number of stumps. In social networks locals mourn the waterfront “Artek”.
“The occupier doesn’t matter what and who, and how…. They are not going to live here…”, “Jesus, what a mess… the Horde”, “barbarians”, “Savages have no need of trees”, “Devastation and gloom,” write the users of social networks.
People are shocked and fear that in the near future the resort will become a desert.
After the annexation of the Peninsula real “Artek” moved to the Carpathians and a part in the Kiev oblast to Pushcha-Voditsa.
The main part of the camp settled in Bukovel, given the name “Artek-Carpathians”. The camp was arranged in three recreation – “lake”, “Forest” and “Mountain”.
Children work with the real leaders from the “Artek”, which after the occupation of Crimea moved to the Carpathians.
Another part of the camp located on the territory of the sanatorium “Pushcha Ozerna”, near Kiev.
