This year Ukraine has set a record for the export of honey per annum for the first 3 quarter – 46, 2 thousand tons of honey in the amount of 86.9 million dollars.
Almost every tenth kilogram of exported honey put the Kherson oblast, of which 60% went to EU countries, said the Director of Department of agroindustrial development of Kherson regional state administration Alexander Flood on his page in Facebook.
During the first three quarters of Kherson region exported 4.4 thousand tons of honey in the amount of 7534 thousand dollars, it is 9.3% of the total Ukrainian exports.
“Next year we expect the emergence of new players in the export field, and it will happen thanks to the active work of the Kherson regional Union of beekeepers, created this year with the assistance of the Department of agricultural development,” said Flood.
According to him, the Union, together with international technical assistance projects, organizes seminars and conferences to help Kherson beekeepers, most of whom produce honey on a hobby level, to transform this business into a professional profitable business.
