Ukraine this summer can run a test train with a cargo of agricultural products to Iran.
Ukraine and Iran have agreed to run test trains to transport agricultural products, primarily grain from Ukraine to Iran. The route will pass through Georgia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian after a meeting with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Omeljan noted that the test train Ukraine-Iran may go in the summer of 2017. “This is a very promising area of cooperation for both countries. Ukraine needs to develop a new international transport corridors in order to become a reliable transit bridge between Europe, Asia and the East,” – said the Minister.
Omeljan also urged the Iranian side to consider the possibility of transporting Iranian oil to Ukraine and the prospects of building an oil refinery on the territory of Ukraine.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of Maritime and road transport, focusing particularly on the issues of strengthening cooperation in the aviation sector.
