U.S. attorney General give written explanation why no mention of his two meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak.
“It is planned that on March 6 sessions will present their explanations to the Senate, and will answer questions from representatives of the Democratic party, who want to know why the Minister did not mention about his two meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak during the hearings on approval of candidates for current position”, – stated in the message.
Jeff sessions, a former Senator of Alabama, said on 2 March that he had met with Sergey Kislyak two months before the election in the Senate, and also at the event with other ambassadors during the national Convention of the Republican party, however, what was discussed, sessions said.
He agreed in writing to answer questions about it when 9 congressional Democrats appealed to the Senate urging them to withdraw and Roman sessions from office, although the decision to withdraw was not accepted.
Representatives of Democrats, however, said in an address to the Chairman of the Senate judiciary Committee on March 3 that written explanation, given the gravity of the situation, is not enough.
In January, US intelligence agencies published a report stating that, in their estimation, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered to carry out a “campaign of influence” to undermine the credibility of the electoral system of the United States, and to discredit the rival Donald trump’s Hillary Clinton. Now, according to press reports, the Federal Bureau of investigation, the United States is investigating the contacts and business connections of a number of the then and current aides of trump with Russian officials.
