Trump is looking for new ways of cooperation with Russia.
US President, Donald trump has decided to discontinue the program of military training and weapons to the Syrian opposition that seek to destroy the government forces of Bashar al-Assad.
This writes the newspaper The Washington Post.
As writes the edition, such step trump went in favor of the interests of Russia.
“President trump decided to stop the secret CIA program of arming and training moderate Syrian rebels who are fighting the government of Bashar Assad. This is the step which has long sought Russia”, – writes the edition.
Reporters noted that this program was the basis for U.S. policy in Syria, founded by the Obama administration in 2013. Thus, the US tried to reduce the pressure on Assad, moderate opposition.
American officials believe that the curtailment of secret program connected with the fact that trump is looking for new ways of cooperation with Russia.
By the way, this decision trump has made after his meeting with CIA Director Mike Pompeo and adviser on national security Herbert McMaster, who advised him on Syria before a meeting on 7 July with the Russian President in Hamburg.
