Almost all who died in the “blue hall” ruined the so-called “deep air.” So we call the dive on air at depth, for this threat, primarily because of nitrogen narcosis. This activity can be compared with the way the driver into oncoming traffic and begins to bounce on his car. One will with impunity “to grab adrenaline”, the other not.
