The Ministry of Health decides whether to admit scientific homeopathic treatment. This problem has received special scope after the last publication of the Commission against pseudoscience and falsification of scientific research of the Memorandum in which homeopathy has been called a pseudoscience.
Resonant document of the Russian Academy of Sciences was published in February of this year. However, today among the scientific community, including among the academics, do not cease large-scale disputes about whether the document is the result of serious scientific research or its results were fabricated and paid for by interested parties, including owners of pharmaceutical companies.
Many of the members of the Academy of Sciences, including Valery Coast, spoke strongly against the published Memorandum, since the Commission had not endured this issue for discussion at the Presidium of the Academy, did not substantiate published results of scientific research and, in recognition of academics, not even met.
It is possible that this Memorandum was the result of someone’s interests, e.g. pharmaceutical companies, which are financially unprofitable, the existence of this type of alternative medicine like homeopathy. Note that the Memorandum ends with a call to delete homeopathic treatment of standards of medical care, as well as the requirement to publish on each package of the drugs warning that they do not have the desired effect in the treatment.
The decision of the Ministry of health re-inspection
After the publication of the document in the Ministry of health received a letter from members of the Department of medical Sciences, containing a petition for review of the decision regarding homeopathy as pseudoscience. Attached to the letter was a list of more than 200 scientific studies conducted over the past 26 years, which refutes the thesis made in the Memorandum.
As a result, the Ministry of health issued a decision on the review and revalidation of the provisions of the document and asked to collect independent scientific group which will be engaged in a full and comprehensive study on the efficacy of homeopathic treatment. The results obtained will be the basis for a final decision on the fate of this form of alternative medicine, which permit the prevailing scientific environment conflict.
