The Ukrainian Prosecutor’s office suspects Chernovetsky in the malpractice.
The former mayor of Kiev Leonid Chernovetsky declared wanted.
Search in the registry specified that Chernovetsky has vanished on 24 July 2017.
Chernovetsky was the mayor of Kiev in 2006-2012. He lives in Georgia for several years and owns a large Villa in Kobuleti. In December 2015 the former mayor of the capital of Ukraine stated that it had established a political party “For the happy Georgia” and was preparing to take part in parliamentary elections in October 2016, but in may of last year it became known that he had changed his mind became a Deputy and suspended political activities.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor’s office suspects Chernovetsky in abuse of office (part 2 of article 364 of the Criminal code) in the construction of a helipad on Park road in Kiev.
According to investigators, Chernovetsky is involved in illegal withdrawal, change of purpose and transfer of valuable land in lease for the construction of the helipad. Also, he is charged with understating the rent for the land and the destruction of the archaeological heritage.
The damage to the territorial community of Kyiv is estimated at 250 million.
Helipad in Kiev was opened on 6 June 2012, it is several hundred metres from Parliament. It was to use then-President Viktor Yanukovych to get out of Ukraine, but he never made a single flight.
