It’s cheap – the film’s budget is only 130 thousand rubles. It’s the Amateurs and Director-writer-operator-producer in one person with a funny name “Life”. It is the special effects, made “on the knee” – what did you expect with this budget?.. But it is very bloody and quite curious.
Sergey’s Life took a biographical film about infamous serial killer Alexander Spesivtsev. The shooting took place in the fall and winter of 2014 (in Network film was posted authors much later, only in 2017), and the film crew consisted of only two people, and make-up artist Alexander Pikalov still performed the role of the maniac.
The cheapness of the picture visible, let a Director-cameraman and finds ways to work around budget constraints, selecting camera angles and plans so that the frame did not get anything extra. The devil is in the detail and findings of the Director’s too obvious to work as it should. You know, if you know how a magician performs a particular trick, all the magic disappears. At the same time, it should be noted that many details of the film-makers were extremely attentive. Schizophrenic Sasha and his mother quote verbatim dialogues real Spesivtsev and his mother were caught in the famous documentary series “Criminal Russia”, in the apartment of the maniac was a place antediluvian refrigerator and the carpet on the wall, and the whole story is ninety percent of the films echoed the actual facts. There are exceptions and they are, oddly enough, very humane: in reality, no one is saved Spesivtsev’s last victim, she managed to escape and, already lying on a hospital bed, exhausted girl managed to testify, only soon after she had died – in the artistic interpretation of the story that showed us Life…

Also it is necessary to praise the film for boldness in the demonstration of bloody violence. “The Siberian Ripper” – this is a real tortured porn movie. Subgenre, acquiring abroad in underground ghetto, from which are selected to light only a very small number of movies (“Hostel” comes to mind in the first place). In our area a movie of this sort do not take off at all, so that Sergei’s Life and the company became pioneers and there are already at least deserve that respect. What is really there, for all the shortcomings of “the Siberian Ripper” has all chances to become iconic for Russian-speaking audience movie already, watch it, discuss, criticize and praise on the Network, even though no advertising of the movie, for obvious reasons, no.
