The ex-President of Georgia and former head of the Odessa regional state administration, Mikheil Saakashvili was deprived of the citizenship of Ukraine.
The Department explained that this step was taken on the basis of paragraph 2 of article 19 of the citizenship Act, namely, “on the basis of false data stated in the questionnaire”.
In particular, in the documents that Saakashvili filled out before the receipt of the Ukrainian citizenship, he indicated that he is not under investigation in Ukraine or abroad, at that time, on the territory of Georgia, the former President was arrested in absentia.
The decision concerning the former head of the Odessa regional state administration adopted by the Commission on citizenship issues at the request of the people’s Deputy Andrey Lozovoy.
