Novosibirsk Institute of solid state chemistry and Mechanochemistry (ihtm) of SB RAS has introduced an inexpensive protective mask of a conventional polyester with nano silver. According to the developers, it is able to kill the influenza virus type A and type b infections transmitted by airborne droplets.
As the Director of Institute Nikolay Lyakhov, Novosibirsk, Russia could supply the masks of both Russia and other countries. The mask is made of normal polyester. The secret is that he is in a special way covered by a layer of silver with a thickness of 30-50 nanometers (metal consumption is 10-12 grams per square meter, which guarantees a low cost). Application of silver nano layer enables to maintain a high porosity, elasticity and strength.
Also, the material acquires a conductivity, bactericidal and shielding properties. In addition to the masks, large amounts can be used for filters of air conditioning in planes, trains.
