The government banned the use of unprotected Internet.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree which enacts NSDC’s decision dated 29 December 2016 “About the threats of cyber security of state and urgent measures for their neutralization.”
According to the document, the government 3-month period should address the issue of the ban to the state bodies, enterprises, institutions and organizations of state form of ownership purchasing of services (to conclude contracts) on access to the Internet operators (providers) of telecommunications, in which there are no documents on confirmation of compliance of the information security system, with established requirements in the field of information security.
The government with the participation of the security Service of Ukraine shall prepare and submit to the Parliament a draft law on the delimitation of criminal responsibility for crimes in sphere of use of electronic computing machines (computers), systems and computer networks and telecommunication networks committed against the state and other information resources, objects of critical information infrastructure and other facilities, – stated in the decree.
For 2017, the Cabinet must provide financing of expenditures on the design of secure data center to host the state electronic information resources; take measures to create the National center of operational and technical management of telecommunication networks of Ukraine and its functioning; – provide the state bodies ‘ implementation of legislation in the sphere of technical protection of information, and to respond promptly to identified violations.
In addition, the National Bank of Ukraine recommended to take urgent measures to improve cyber security of systemically important banks of Ukraine.
