The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko congratulated the military and civil society activists on the Day of Ukrainian volunteers.
“Thank you to all the soldiers-volunteers – those who are now working in the National police, serves in the National guard, was transferred to the Armed forces, or takes an active civil position in civil life”, – wrote Poroshenko on his page on the social network Facebook on Tuesday.
The President stressed that the unity and determination of the volunteers are very much needed in Ukraine. “We need unity, we need resolute action to counter attempts of the enemy, who understood the inability to defeat us on the front, trying to destabilize the situation inside. Thank you to each of you for fundamentally solid and clear civil position and bow to each of you from the Ukrainian people”, – said P. Poroshenko in the video, which was also published on his Facebook page.
As reported the press service of the President of Ukraine, Poroshenko also presented state awards. So, the order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III degree awarded Lieutenant Eugene Yarantsev, who served in the “Aydar” and took part in the fighting in the area of Gravelly, Happiness, was a member of the defense of Lugansk airport. “During the withdrawal of troops from Debaltsevo, E. Yarantsev in the composition of the evacuation team took out the wounded and weapons,” – said in the message.
7 volunteers awarded the order “For courage” III degrees, 6 military – medals “For military service to Ukraine” and 5 – “Defender of the Fatherland.”
On 14 March, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Ukrainian volunteers.
