The Ukrainian Constitution is one of the most democratic in the world, said Poroshenko.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called the Constitution one of the most democratic in the world.
He stated this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of Constitution Day.
“The basic Law of our state is still considered one of the most democratic in the world. But our ancestors also left one of the oldest constitutional documents in istoriii of mankind, of his political thought. This document appeared in 1710, long before such acts and had the abbreviated name of the “Acts and Constitution of rights and liberties Zaporizhia army”. It was a social contract, Pylyp Orlyk, Mazepa’s heir to a great, concluded as Hetman of Zaporizhia Troops with Cossack and Cossacks,” – said the President.
Poroshenko stressed that in countering aggression of Russia in the Ukrainian Constitution needs to change.
“We are defending our sovereignty and independence. We protect not only our land, but also democracy, freedom, affirm its European choice. To win the struggle we carry out deep reform. Some of these reforms will require changes in the basic law. Last year I suggested the Verkhovna Rada to amend the Constitution to ensure the restoration of justice. A big thank parliamentary colleagues that the proposals were supported. Now the reform, which started a year ago, continues, ” – said Poroshenko.
