Only the Council of Ministers of the European Union adopted the final decision on all of us, citizens of Ukraine the right to visa-free travel.

17 may in Strasbourg in the European Parliament, as we have agreed with our European friends, solemnly sign the appropriate legislation. It will probably be one of my most important visits in the three years of service at the head of the Ukrainian state.

The decision will be published in the Official journal of the Union, and twenty days later it will enter into force.

About 11 June 34 European countries will turn on the green light the owners of Ukrainian biometric passports for visa-free short trips.

Disappear queues at the embassies and visa centers. Will last the grueling red tape on the paper collection. People will save the money spent on visa fees and the services of intermediaries.

But “bezviz” is much more than a simplified way of going abroad. This is a giant step in Europe, the assertion of human freedom and independence of our state. We increasingly become part of the single European civilizational space.

“Bezviz” is evidence of the strategic correctness of our European choice is irreversible course for integration to Europe. It is both the recognition of positive changes on the way of reforms: the plan of visa liberalization contained almost a hundred and fifty points, which provided a real change in many areas of life.

Were the tasks easy? Of course not. Many resisted, both outside and inside. But a long and difficult journey we’ve had together.

We did it!

Politicians who took important decisions, as in the case of electronic Declaration. Civil society, which supported the movement in Europe. Our friends in the European Union, which resisted the many attempts of the Russian lobby to block our “bezviz”. And most importantly, the Ukrainian soldiers in the East to protect Ukraine and the whole continent. And you, dear brothers-in-arms, lower a nod.

I am very grateful to all those who could fulfill one of his electoral promises.

I congratulate you, dear compatriots, with this historic decision of the EU Council. It is like returning home after a long and exhausting journey… the Return to our common European house.

Appreciate your Ukrainian passport. And love Ukraine!
