The head of state clearly explained to the EU that Russia is not a mediator in the conflict in the Donbas.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the conflict in the Donbass Russia is the aggressor rather than a mediator in the negotiations. He said this after a meeting of the summit Ukraine-EU.
He noted that a significant part of the negotiations was paid to the issues of Donbas and Crimea.
“It was confirmed a common understanding of the nature of the current situation and responsibility of the Russian Federation for its emergence and development. It is obvious that Ukraine is the target of aggression, and Russia is the aggressor, and certainly not a mediator in these positions – a blatant and cynical aggressor”, – said Poroshenko.
Earlier Poroshenko during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson stated that Russia started war against Ukraine and that the Russian leadership is the key to peaceful settlement of the situation.
