The President compared the signatures under the Budapest Memorandum with nuclear warheads.
President Poroshenko said that the signatures of the Budapest Memorandum gives less security than a single nuclear warhead. The head of state said in the framework of the 14th annual meeting of the Yalta European strategy (YES) in Kiev today.
“If someone thinks that when finally the war is over in Ukraine, all will be as before, I think those people are wrong. You can’t bring back to life tens of thousands of Ukrainians who died, you can’t forget that signatures under the Budapest Memorandum gives less security than a single nuclear warhead,” he added.
He also said that it is impossible to return to the old world order.
“You can go back to a peaceful and stable world order? No, we can’t. And if anyone thinks that will end the war in Ukraine (I hope to God it is over!) and everything will return to normal, he is wrong. It is impossible to revive tens of thousands of victims. You can not glue the broken contract” – summed Poroshenko.
