The German Chancellor during a conversation with Prime Minister of Poland recognized the dangers of political dimension of the Nord stream-2 for Ukraine.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel during talks with Polish Prime Minister Beta Szydlo acknowledged that the construction of the gas pipeline Nord stream-2 from a political point of view could be harmful for Ukraine.
This was stated by the official representative of the Polish government Bochenek Rafal in a Polish radio.
“Chancellor emphasizes mainly the commercial aspect of this project. But during the conversation with Mrs. Prime Minister (Poland) said that he sees the political aspect and it can be harmful for Ukraine”, – said Bochenek.
He also stressed that Warsaw was originally opposed to Nord stream-2.
“He does not serve the EU’s energy security, it makes the Union dependent on Russia. The establishment of the Nord stream-2 will lead to the fact that Ukraine will be even more in the zone of influence of Russia” — reminded Bohenek the position of Poland.
The project Nord stream-2 involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year from the coast of the Russian Federation through the Baltic sea to Germany. Russia promises to build Nord stream-2 for two years.
