The show of Prabal Gurung spring-summer 2018
At fashion week in new York, Prabal Gurung presented an innovative spring / summer collection
Lighting is the most pressing political and social aspects in their collections – a card of a young fashion House. If in past seasons the context was clear to everyone, this time the theme of personal uniqueness, which appeals to the designer was well veiled, and was traced only in the details.
The new collection Prabal Gurung surprised us with the variety of colors and prints, designs and textures from chiffon flowing dresses to short, turning into a corset. This season the brand has abandoned monochrome images, and presented a rich palette of colors. Slits on the waist designer decorated with small buttons that reminded us design Oriental costumes. The range of outerwear were presented, cropped jackets with wide plecami and vinyl coat in retro style with sewn corset. The most controversial element of the collection, in our opinion, were the blouses with sleeves-lanterns – the eternal inhabitants of the cupboards of our grandmothers.
We could not pay attention to stars on the catwalk: sister Hadid, model, plus-size, Ashley Graham, candice Chaffin, transgender Andrea Pejic. The fashion world should be equal for all – says the designer.
