I can’t call myself a true music lover, because I listen to music not as often and not as much as maybe I would like. So personally, I only this year discovered the work of American singer of Danish origin Amalie Bruun and her project Myrkur, although Amalia/Myrkur actually works for several years and managed to release two albums, one live album and several singles. Music over the years has evolved, improved, but the style remains virtually unchanged – and that’s good, because originality and very beautiful mix of extreme black metal and folk with a distinct medieval motifs in your bones. Delicate vocals are incredibly cool combined with the screaming and dark heavy music.
15 September saw the release of the second full-length album from Amalie, which was named “Mareridt”. In General, almost all records Myrkur are named with the letter “m”. “Mareridt” translated from Norwegian means “nightmare”. The album was recorded in Copenhagen and Seattle, and recording of the songs “Funeral” and “Kvindelil”, was attended by the singer Chelsea Wolfe.
