Sanctions against Russia make Europe stronger, said the Minister.
Sanctions are needed not only for the cessation of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Europe needs them because they make her stronger.
This position was expressed by the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin in an interview with the Austrian magazine Profil.
“We need sanctions, not as strategy, but as a tool to force Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements and to end its occupation of Crimea. As soon as the Russian will leave the Donbass, it will be possible to gradually lift the sanctions. Here we have nothing against”, – said Klimkin.
At the same time, he added, the issue of sanctions we are talking not only about Ukraine but also about Europe is based more generally on the rules, or to prevent aggressive actions of Russia “, – he continued.
“Sanctions – only defense and the only line between good and evil, conducted by the West when Russia violated all treaties. The absence of sanctions means that there is no distinction between international law and lawlessness. Without sanctions, Europe would be another, weaker,” – said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
He gave advice to Europeans: “Learn from our mistakes; always listen to what Russia says not in your face and behind your back.”
The Minister also recalled how aggressive and overt Moscow interferes with the election campaign in the West. Austria also is her goal here sees an opportunity to weaken Europe.
