Iraqi authorities believe that the leader of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is alive. This was announced by the Director of the intelligence service and counter-terrorist operations in the Iraqi Ministry of interior Abu Ali Basri.
According to him, the leader of ISIS is alive and still hiding on the territory of Syria. Abu Ali Basri said that the extremist, presumably, is outside the city of raqqa. The Director added that the Iraqi intelligence service engaged in tracking the movement of the head of the IG and his entourage.
11 July it was reported that “Islamic state” confirmed information about the death of al-Baghdadi. That leader was probably killed in the result of the impact of videoconferencing on may 28, near the Syrian Raqqa, June 16, reported the Ministry of defense of Russia.
Reports about the destruction of al-Baghdadi appear in the media regularly, but so far they haven’t finally confirmed.
