Poroshenko thanked the Americans for their consistent support of Ukraine.
Former U.S. Secretary of state Madeleine Albright believes that Ukraine should provide defensive weapons.
She stated this at a meeting of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with the delegation of the National democratic Institute USA (NDI), head of the Board of Directors of the Albright is now.
“Madeleine Albright stressed the importance of granting Ukraine defensive weapons to ensure the legitimate rights of sovereign States to self-defence in accordance with article 51 of the UN Charter”, – the press service of the President of Ukraine on Friday, June 16.
During the meeting Poroshenko thanked the American side for its consistent support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and the implementation of democratic reforms in the country.
The President also informed the representatives of NDI on further aggravation of the situation in the Donbas. “In this regard was the need to maintain sanctions against Russia until full compliance with the Minsk agreements and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea”, – the press-service of the head of state.
