Facebook will protect users with a selfie
The social network is testing a new security feature which will ask the user to upload a photo where you can clearly see the face to prove you are not a bot.
The company uses a new kind of captcha to check whether the user is a real person. According to the screenshot of the test of identity, the authenticity of which was confirmed by representatives of Facebook, please read as follows “Please upload a photo of yourself which clearly shows your face. We will check it and permanently remove it from our servers”.
In comments to Wired, the representative of the social network said that fototest is designed to help users to track and stop suspicious activity at different stages of interaction with the website including creating an account, sending friend requests, setting advertising payments as well as creating and editing announcements.
The verification process is automated, including the identification of suspicious activity and check for the photo. However, the company refused to share the details to prevent possible manipulation of the new type of protection.
