2018 Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid will come to market in the third quarter of this year.
After the hybrid version of the Niro, Kia brings to market a crossover with plug, which was demonstrated to the public at the Geneva motor show.
On sale the car will arrive in the third quarter of this year. Niro Plug-In Hybrid borrows many guts 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid, including an 8.9-kilowatt lithium-ion battery.
Battery at 8.9 kW/h boasts over conventional hybrid version (with battery 1.56 kW/hour) capacity increase 5.7 times. As expected, the motor also received from Hyundai. With a capacity of 44.5 kW or 61 HP, it is much more efficient hybrid version. With this in mind, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h now takes 10.8 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds faster.
In electric mode, the new Niro is able to overcome more than 55 kilometers. Plug-in hybrid powerplant runs with a 1.6-liter GDI engine family “Kappa”, developing 105 HP and 147 Nm of torque. The overall performance is estimated at 141 HP and 265 Nm.
To help Niro Plug-In Hybrid to become more effective, the Korean car maker has supplied him an impressive array of equipment, including regenerative braking, ECO-Driving Assistant System, the Coasting Control Guide, and a feature called Predictive Energy Control. The latter works in conjunction with cruise control and satellite navigation to determine when to recharge the lithium-ion battery and when to use a purely electric driving mode.
