Canada supports Ukraine and calls on Russia for the immediate release of all political prisoners.
This is stated in the congratulation of the head of the foreign Affairs Committee of the canadian Senate Reinel Andreichuk independence Day of Ukraine.
“Today we reaffirm our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and call for the immediate release of all Ukrainians illegally detained in Russia”, – said in greeting.
Separately, the Senator remembered about Oleg Sentsov and Ruslan Saydullaeva, who was sentenced in Russia to long prison terms on trumped up charges.
“Celebrating independence Day, we regret Russia’s illegal actions in the occupied territories of Eastern Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula. The arrest and detention of numerous political prisoners illustrates the serious violations of personal freedoms and the persecution of Ukrainians and Ukrainian national minorities, the Kremlin” – said Andreychuk.
She also noted the great support of the Ukrainian Diaspora in the development of a free and independent Ukraine.
