Information about possible resignation of the head of the NBU called “twisted”.
The newly elected head of the faction “Block of Petro Poroshenko”Arthur Gerasimov denied information about the alleged resignation of the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva, and noted that this information is twisted.
“As for the National Bank Valeria Gontareva is a beautiful head of the NBU, it is working, it works. And all this twisted information. I would like to refute these things,” – said Gerasimov journalists after the meeting of the BPP on Monday in Kiev.
In turn, the Deputy head of the faction PPO Irina Lutsenko, who on Monday morning said that V. Gontareva wrote a letter of resignation after the meeting of the BPP said that the head of the NBU overcomes the coalition, and V. Gontareva is working in his office.
“This is the fifth message of the press about her statement…I did not say (V. Gontareva wrote a statement – Interfax). I asked if she wrote the statement, I said: this is the fifth message. This is the message of the press, but no way the message of Valeria Gontareva”, – said I. Lutsenko, who on Monday, April 3, was appointed representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada.
Earlier on Monday, April 3, I. Lutsenko reported allegedly written by the head of the NBU statement of resignation. “I think that the front of the work, which she took, she met and wrote a statement – it is true,” – said I. Lutsenko.
As reported, in late February, several media outlets have reported alleged decision of the V. Gontareva the decision to submit a resignation, which is ready to meet the President. The source Agency “Interfax-Ukraine” in the market noted that, in contrast to similar messages in previous years, this time the probability of retirement higher, but in any case, the NBU will insist on coming to her place-political figures – professional banker.

V. Gontareva, the ninth head of the national Bank of Ukraine for the entire history of its existence since 1991. The first head of the Ukrainian Central Bank was Vladimir Matvienko, who in 1992 was replaced by Vadim Getman (killed in 1998), and he was replaced by his student, Viktor Yushchenko, who later became the Prime Minister and the President of the country.
Then for a long time at the helm of the national Bank was the first Deputy to Viktor Yushchenko, Volodymyr Stelmakh – in 2000-2002, 2004-2010.
From late 2002 to 2004, the NBU officially headed by Sergei Tigipko, although the last few months powers actually executed became in 2014-2015, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. During the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, the national Bank was headed by Serhiy Arbuzov (since the end of 2010 to beginning of 2013) and Igor Sorkin.
