In 2013, when the Munich BMW engineers ran the motorcycle R series-9T, they didn’t know what will mark the 90th anniversary of its Motorrad division export surplus and new generation bikes.
This year BMW motorcycle R-9T Urban G/S became the latest addition to this long-lasting history, creating in the segment of adventure motorcycles rabid competition.
Designer style new model continues the tradition of BMW motorcycle R80 G/S, released back in the distant 1980. But still, this innovation, which simply incorporates the existing functionality with pleasing aesthetics. All this is not without reason, as market research analysts, BMW Motorrad showed that the buyer of this bike over 45 years old and fairly affluent than the average income of the majority of motor-fans.
Now the strategy of the Munich designers is to capture as much of the client base among high-end segment of the market. However, it is not surprising that BMW Motorrad is trying to satisfy the tastes of all without exception of motorcyclists based on the traditional basis. And the rebirth of the BMW R80 G/S in the body of the BMW R 9T Urban G/S nothing but the latest proof of that.
So, what are the technical characteristics of the new bike? – First of all, it features an overall power unit with air/oil cooling with a volume of 1170 cm3. Secondly, the declared capacity reaches 96,5 horsepower, allows the rider full force to experience the madness of the drive. Thirdly, the fuel tank is made of high quality steel and iron sub-frame consists of three parts instead of four, which are not heated during the movement. Well and fourthly, suspension type down-spec becomes quite tame, if you click on the device to increase performance.
In our opinion, the model of the BMW R 9T Urban G/S is actually very similar to a BMW Scrambler, although it has its stylistic treatment. Both named the bike the same in all directions, except for the wheels! The urban model has dimensional, wide wheels-spoke design, but bike Scrambler wheel design star limited wide rim.
