Ukrzaliznytsia is studying the possibility of increasing the speed of trains on existing infrastructure.
This was stated by acting Chairman of the management Board of the company Evgeny Kravtsov, reports the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.
According to him, Ukrzaliznytsia is studying the proposals of the global manufacturers of passenger rolling stock to upgrade rolling stock and improve travel comfort for passengers.
In this regard, Kravtsov with the participation of the Directors of Railways held talks with the management of the Spanish company Talgo.
At the same time, now for the Ukrainian railway network, interesting projects that do not require large amounts of infrastructure modernization.
“First and foremost we are ready to explore the possibility of cooperation with Talgo to update night trains. We are interested in increasing speed and reducing the time of passenger trains, which in particular gives an application of the so-called technology of “light weight”, what’s the Talgo company is a recognized leader. It is important to use the existing infrastructure for the development of high-speed traffic,” – said Kravtsov.
It is noted that the first direction could be realized, this technology may become Kiev-Odessa.
