It’s time to summarize the results of this really rich in game releases year. We decided to compile our own top of gaming projects that were the best in 2023. However, there are other great projects besides this list. We hope you had as much gamer enjoyment during the year with your favorite games as we did. - Baldur’s Gate 3
The clear favorite of our top, the winner of the Game of the Year category at The Game Awards, is Baldur’s Gate 3, the brainchild of Belgian studio Larian. The game has unique quests, flawless RPG part, impressive graphics and about 17,000 endings. However, the most important thing is that Baldur’s Gate 3 is literally permeated with the developers’ love, and it can be felt in every pixel and dialog. And also the game has excellent localization. So, if you are a fan of classic RPGs, you just have to try this game, you won’t regret it!
- Resident Evil 4
The remake of the fourth part of the legendary game franchise Resident Evil from Capcom became truly fantastic. The game got incredible graphics and became even scarier than the original 2005. In the remake the crafting was expanded and some story scenes were changed. All in all, Resident Evil 4 is one of the best third-person survival-horror games in recent years. The game has been recognized by the gaming community and has sold over 5.5 million copies.
- Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Finally, this year CDPR, together with the long-awaited Phantom Liberty add-on and a massive patch, turned Cyberpunk 2077 into the near-perfect game that the community had been waiting for for 3 years. The add-on turned out to be very powerful: Phantom Liberty gave players a new, exciting story in the style of spy thrillers, spicing up the story with updated mechanics and a new neighborhood for adventures. And even though Phantom Liberty is DLC, it’s so awesome that we couldn’t help but include it in our top.
- Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is by far the most successful game adaptation of the Harry Potter universe. The project, created by Avalanche studio, amazes with the detailed interior and exterior of the legendary Hogwarts. The developers fantastically reproduced all 5 faculties of the school and the internal framing of the premises. In the game there are familiar to fans of the books places like the Magic Bank “Gringotts” or the Forbidden Forest. Hogwarts Legacy is an absolute must play for all fans of J.K. Rowling’s magical universe.
- Alan Wake 2
For 13 years Finnish Remedy Entertainment has been working on the long-awaited continuation of the story about the writer Alan Wake. And indeed, fans waited for so many years for a reason. The developers amazed and without exaggeration created a real masterpiece, setting a new standard in the whole game industry. Alan Wake 2 has amazing graphics, intriguing plot, fascinating investigations, interesting game mechanics and depressing atmosphere. And just for Remedy’s signature “live” cut-scenes, you can already try this game.
- Diablo IV
The long-awaited fourth installment of the legendary Diablo is a terrific continuation of the franchise, successfully combining and developing the style of the second part, online elements of the third and bringing a lot of new, exciting mechanics. The game has great graphics, great music, exciting gameplay, and now you can ride a horse. Diablo IV has received rather reserved evaluations from the gaming community, nevertheless, we think that the game turned out to be great and set a new benchmark for ARPG games.
- Lies of P
In the fall, the unique and unusual project Lies of P from the South Korean studio Neowiz shot surprisingly powerful and received 92% positive reviews on Steam. First of all, Lies of P is interesting because it is based on the fairy tale by Carlo Collodi – “Pinocchio” and has a really unique style and plot. The game can be safely called one of the best representatives of souls-like action games, having its really original story, reimagined combat system and new interesting mechanics. Bloodborne fans will be delighted.
- Spider-Man 2
Rounding off our top is the superhero exclusive for PS5 – Spider-Man 2. The sequel continues the story of the previous two parts. According to the plot, the two protagonists of the game, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, will have to fight Craven the Hunter, Sandman, Lizard and Venom. Spider-Man 2 has quite deservedly received high marks from gamers.
