Purchases of American gas will allow Poland to diversify its sources of supply, after the contract with Russia.
Polish state oil and gas company PGNiG was signed in Washington an agreement for 20 years with American firms i Venture Global LNG Port Arthur LNG to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US to Poland.
This was reported by the press service of the Polish company on Wednesday, June 27.
Is expected to 2023, Poland will receive annually 2 million tons of LNG, which after regasification will be about 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas. Gas supplies will be conducted from the LNG terminal in Port Arthur, Texas.
PGNiG noted that purchases of American gas will allow Poland to diversify its supply sources after 2022 will end the contract with Russia. Also, PGNiG will be able to resell American gas.
Recall that in June last year in Poland on the Baltic LNG terminal in świnoujście has arrived the first ship is a liquefied gas carrier from the United States. And in December, the American gas first came to Ukraine via terminal in Poland and GTS.
