The UN believes that the military operations in Idlib threaten the safety of civilians and may be grounds for another humanitarian catastrophe.
Military action in Syria will endanger the safety of civilians and can turn it into a stage for another humanitarian disaster. This was stated by the Chairman of the independent UN Commission to investigate human rights violations in Syria, Paulo Sergio Pinheiro.
“We are concerned that in Idlib and there would be heavy fighting and the civilian population’s security will be threatened,” – said the UN representative.
According to him, the actions of terrorists of “Front an-Nusra” and other extremist groups on the West of Aleppo would increase tension in the region.
Pinheiro recalled that after the agreement about the evacuation of civilians and opposition fighters from Eastern districts of Aleppo, this city left tens of thousands of people.
