The lawyer pointed out the rule that refusal to care for the animals is seen as cruelty.
In Italy an employee of the University La Sapienza di Roma received a two-day paid leave to care for his dog, which was prepared for surgery.
The woman asked the University about the two-day paid leave, however, asked to justify your request, because the earlier leave for the care of animals was not provided.
The lawyer pointed out the rule that refusal to care for the animals is seen as cruelty. For this, the pet owner may face imprisonment up to one year and a fine of up to €10 thousand. The owner of the animal gave the University a certificate of need for surgery for the dog. The court agreed with its arguments and decided to pay the holiday for family or personal reasons.
Italian League antivivisection (one of Europe’s largest organizations for the protection of animal rights) has helped the scientific employee with this case. According to the head of the organization Gianluca, Felicetti, the decision was a step towards the recognition of Pets as family members.
