Solving a murder is complicated by the inability to interrogate the fugitive Minister of revenue and duties of Yanukovych.
The investigation of the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet is complicated by the fact that it is impossible to interview people with whom the journalist has contacted Russia before he died. This was reported to journalists by the speaker of the Ministry of internal Affairs Artem Shevchenko.
“Who killed Pavel Sheremet – the answer to this question is no, because this crime was never solved. The investigation has no suspects procedure. The investigation carried out a large number of investigative actions”, – he said, adding that the investigation cannot show the results of investigative actions, as required by the journalists and society.
“The victim we – the citizen of the Russian Federation, which had quite active contacts on the territory of the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, which research now Ukrainian investigators are unable due to the nature of the current relationship between law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and Russia. Also it is vain to hope for any assistance from the investigating authorities of the aggressor”, – he said.
Shevchenko noted that the investigation is necessary to conduct investigative actions with the people with whom Sheremet contact in Russia. “At least question Klimenko( the former Minister of revenues and duties – ed.), who met the victim shortly before his death and led some conversations. All this greatly complicates the investigation… But it is not in place, we work constantly,” he said.
Answering the question if it helped in the investigation, the FBI, Shevchenko said that the FBI was engaged to carry out certain expert studies, in particular, the mechanism of the explosion, explosion, damage to the vehicle. “There is a possibility, but only with the procedural resolution of the General Prosecutor’s office, and to continue to attract international experts to conduct this investigation,” he said.
Shevchenko said that after the murder Sheremet in a similar way had committed three murders of the officers of the security Service and the Ministry of defense – Colonel Kharaberyush in March of this year, Colonel Shapoval in Kiev and Colonel Vaznogo in Konstantinovka in June. “For us, similar to the way that the execution of such crimes from 20 July 2016 and ending on 27 June 2017, as a number of other factors indicate that quite likely is a Russian track and directly in the crime against the citizen of the Russian Federation Pavel Sheremet” he said.
