On Saturday, June 3, officers were threatened, pulled out a cell phone and put moral pressure on the owner of the newspaper “Letters” of Peter Terentyev, who was behind the wheel of a car. This was reported on the newspaper’s website.
Petr Terentyev, who together with the journalist of the edition carried an editorial assignment (i.e., was in the line of journalistic duties), carried out an emergency stop of his car on Victory Avenue in Kiev. After this he immediately approached police on a car with number plates 1555 and demanded documents.
Officers explained their actions by the fact that the vehicle allegedly Terentyev was not included alarm, which is absolutely not true. Subsequently, law enforcement officers several times changed the argument and pointed out all the new check reason.
However, they refused to provide information which the offence was committed Petr Terentyev, saying only that the car supposedly “are forbidden things”, while refusing to bring witnesses to inspect cars. Officers grabbed the documents of the co-owner of “Letters”, in particular, a driver’s license, damaging also the mobile phone screen.
“I got the press card and said that they are breaking the law, and if they have a valid claim, let be a Protocol. They refused to do and demanded to get out of the car. I from the car showed the documents. They vomited, and I came out. Subsequently, they demanded no Protocol to conduct a search. I refused to do, and one of the police officers in my car attacked me and snatched my phone. Even the police officer seized my personal belongings, demanded to open the bag, lying in the car, and took a tourist knife, began to threaten that that article 263 (“Illegal weapon handling, fighting supplies or explosives”). He later said that he selected the knife because he feared threats to his life”, – said Petr Terentyev.
Petr Terentyev said that five calls to the police with a request to call another patrol, but no one came.
Subsequently to the place of incident there arrived the co-owner of the #Letters, Yekaterina Roshuk, which demonstrated the documents of the edition with an urgent request explain the reason for the search of the car, which was with Peter Terentyev, the journalist of the edition “Capital”. However, the police could not clearly explain the reasons for a search of the car and not making any protocols hurriedly left the scene.
“The car stopped in the lane for public transport, these people (obviously members of the interior Ministry, some otremontirovanny unit “Berkut”) instead of calling the police for drawing up the Protocol on administrative violation of traffic rules (these guys do not have such authority) decided to search (!!!) the car and passengers. Because the vehicle with registration in the Donetsk region. By the way, is not occupied by orcs of the city of Donetsk and Mariupol… Or now if the car registration of the Donetsk region stopped in the lane to public traffic, it automatically means that he’s got a gun in the trunk? Since when is normal, when employees of the interior Ministry out of the hands of the phone and take the phone? Or should we be thankful that didn’t you?
