The attacker for the sake of mitigation of the sentence provided information about other terrorists.
The Rivne city court found 41-year-old resident of Lugansk region guilty of involvement in the Pro-Russian terrorist organization “LNR”.
“In January 2015 a man had joined the so-called “LNR” got camo and a gun with cartridges, were guarding checkpoints. In November of the same year, the gunman was detained by the SBU in the Rivne region in the checkpoint Gorodishche while attempting to cross the state border with forged documents”, – told in SBU.
It is noted that the court took into account the fact that direct participation in hostilities, the attacker is not accepted, “sincerely repented” and collaborated with investigators and provided information about other terrorists.
“The court made a decision on the application of softer punishment, than is provided by the sanction incriminated article of the Criminal code of Ukraine. According to the court verdict, the attacker was found guilty under part 1 article 258-3 of UK of Ukraine (participation in a terrorist organization), he was sentenced to three years imprisonment,” – said in the secret service.
