Protests in Batumi: law enforcement officers used tear gas

Employees of the Georgian special forces used tear gas in Batumi in order to disperse the protesters who tried to break into the building of the main Directorate of internal Affairs of Adjara.

The protest began after an employee of the patrol police stopped the car for violating traffic rules, and, according to witnesses, insulted the driver.

Driver supported by local residents, and then the fight started. Police arrested six people.

Soon the incident outraged residents started to gather near the building of the main Department of internal Affairs of Adjara. The protesters said that after the appointment of the new chief of patrol police, the police became unreasonable to issue large fines for violation of traffic rules.

Total shares present to thousands of people. They demand the resignation of the leadership of law enforcement bodies of Adjara and the release of detainees.
