Award-winning German forward Lukas Podolski in a friendly match with England put an end to his long international career.
Coach of Germany Joachim Loew gave Podolski the captain’s armband for the match against England. The veteran responded with the game-winning goal on 69 minutes, the former Bayern forward scored a magnificent long shot. Symbolically, that goal was the only and winning the match.
On 83 minutes, Podolski was substituted, the home stadium of Borussia Dortmund’s “Signal Iduna Park” arranged for a striker a long standing ovation.
In the German national team Podolski has played on four European Championships (2004-2012), and three went to the world Cup (2006-2014).
