They talked about the cooperation with the Helsinki centre for the countering hybrid threats.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday delivered a speech in which he, in particular, has criticized U.S. and some European countries for Russophobia.
“They are trying to play within the EU anti-Russian card for their own selfish geopolitical objectives. Without any evidence, as you know, we are accused of meddling in elections not only in USA but also in European States,” Lavrov said.
In his speech, the Russian foreign Minister also reported that recently spoke with the Minister for foreign Affairs of Finland Timo Soini (SAT), which, according to him, invited Russia to cooperate with located in Helsinki centre on countering hybrid threats.
“I recently met with the Minister for foreign Affairs of Finland Soini, asked him, what will this center. He said that probably all of hybrid threats and that they would be happy if Russia cooperated with this center”, – said Lavrov.
The Minister Soini, denies the words of Lavrov. According to Soini, that Lavrov announced Russia’s interest in cooperation with the centre.
“I did not comment on it,” says Soini.
Soini also notes that members of the European centre for the countering hybrid threats can only be the EU and NATO. Any other cooperation centre makes decisions independently.
“It is an independent organization that operates within the EU, and Finland is not able to make decisions about her activities,” said Soini.
