This is the highest figure over the past eight years
In the category of poor citizens of the Russian Federation got 39% of the population, and 10% not enough money for food.
This is evidenced by data survey of the national center for the study of public opinion (VTSIOM).
According to the study, another 29% of respondents said that they have no money to buy clothes. Among people of retirement age, those who are “barely making ends meet,” the 54%. Only in the category of poor citizens got 39% of respondents. This is the highest figure over the past eight years, above, this combined share was only in may 2009 (41%).
The minimum number of Russians who considered themselves to be poor, it was in 2014. Then about the lack of money for food was reported by 3% of respondents and 16% admitted that can not afford to buy clothes. However, at the same time to maximum value increased the proportion of those who experienced difficulties with the purchase of household appliances and furniture (56%). Now the figure is 41%.
The poll was conducted may 25-29 in 130 settlements of Russia. The survey covered 1,600 respondents aged 18 years and older. For this sample the maximum size of the error does not exceed 3.5%.
The head of the accounts chamber Tatyana Golikova at a meeting of the Council of Federation said that since the beginning of year in Russia has increased the number of poor. According to her, in the first quarter of 2017, the number of citizens who are below the poverty line is 15%, i.e. 22 million Golikova has reminded that at the end of last year, the number of poor in Russia amounted to 19.8 million people.
