The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said that the day before, after official talks and press conference about an hour informally talked with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson.
“After the press conference, by the way, about an hour, we had an informal talk on what opportunities arise (for rapprochement between Russia and the United States),” said Lavrov at a press conference on Thursday.
In his opinion, “probably, the results (from yesterday’s talks) will be soon, but at least, we have agreed to establish a dialogue on a number of important issues.”
Lavrov noted, in particular, the conversation was “about the inventory problems that were created by the previous administration (USA) to bilateral relations, and mechanisms for the implementation of existing agreements in the military-political sphere, the mechanisms that are designed to bring together, to better understand our positions on various regional crises, especially in regard to the Syrian settlement”.
He also stressed that Moscow and Washington will soon start the practical implementation of the agreements on the establishment of bilateral mechanisms to discuss key issues and stabilize relations.
“The agreements are reached, now we probably will begin to practical establishment of dialogue mechanisms, which in itself is important,” – said the Russian Minister.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump called “stunning” work of the Secretary of state Rex Tillerson talks in Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
