The aircraft received serious injuries, the deer died.
The first elk jumped out on the runway of the airfield in the Park Nehalem Bay, when she sat double single-engine aircraft Van’s Aircraft RV-8. The pilot tried to avoid a collision and sent the plane up, but did not gain sufficient altitude and hit the animal with a propeller and landing gear. Then towards the plane ran out another elk and hit the left wing.
Both deer were killed. The pilot and his passenger were not injured, but the aircraft received substantial damage.
Elk – common in North America, the subspecies of red deer. The weight of an adult is about 220-330 pounds.
