At the site there are at least 170 firefighters
It is noted that the fire started after 15:00 in a building located at 565 W. 144th Street and Broadway. At least 170 firefighters are at the site to extinguish the flames.
Not yet known about casualties or fatalities in a fire in Manhattan. Was not reported on the number of people who were in the building at the time of the fire. According to estimates, the building is home to about 40 families. On the ground floor there are shops. In connection with the incident, local authorities closed traffic around several blocks surrounding the burning building.
It is noted that the smoke from the huge flames were seen in 80 blocks from downtown in Central Park. Recall that in new York the building is the headquarters of the UN were evacuated because of the threat of fire during a meeting of Political high-level forum on sustainable development (HLPF).
